Smartmicro's 24GHz narrowband Radar technology is in automotive volume production since Q1/2006. For Radar based Lane Change Assist solutions, it is today the leading technology worldwide. Our long range Forward Collision Warning (FCW) sensors went in production in Q3/2008. ACC, Stop and Go as well as pre-crash detection sensors are available as samples and will be in production soon.
Because of the unbeatable cost / performance ratio of the 24GHz technology, even mid-range cars can today be offered with optional Radar driver assistance systems for the first time at reasonable cost. Customers like Audi, Volkswagen, BMW, Mazda and one additional big European carmaker already use the technology. Together with many more customers the integration of our innovative Radar based applications in new vehicle models is under development.
The innovative UMRR (Universal Medium Range Radar) sensor platform, now available in its generation 9, is flexible, shows high robustness, works under adverse wheather and all light conditions and opens up opportunities for many non-automotive applications, for example the precise localisation of humans (for homeland security purposes), altimeter solutions (for helicopters), detection of any kind of traffic (for traffic management solutions) and more.
As a key feature, the technology is capable of measuring positions and speed vectors of multiple targets simultaneously, with high accuracy, within a short measurement time.
