Pre-Crash

UMRR-09xx-24-30 Pre-Crash Sensor:
It is technically possible to use most UMRR sensor models as a dedicated pre-crash sensor to initiate reversible restraint systems. The required hardware and software parts are available.

However it is in many cases of even higher advantage to implement just a piece of "pre-crash tracking software" into an existing driver assistance system. It is available as an add-on feature for a radar system covering one or more other applications (like ACC, Stop & Go, Lane Change Assist), thus improving the cost-performance ratio and the benefit for the customer.

The required software has been developed and tested, the pre-crash function can therefor be made available for selected "hosting applications" on request. It is optimized to ensure a reliable detection of a potential crash as well as a very low false alarm rate.

Please find on the right below a snapshot of a stand-alone dedicated pre-crash sensor mounted at the driver side of a car.

Sensor System:
Sensors may be combined to build a system, enlarging the overall field of view of an application. Usually then a fusion tracking is implemented, the pre-crash tracking software being a part of this tracking.

Technical Data (example only, other configurations possible):

  • Range up to 90m (max. 120m).
  • Min. range 0.9m (no relative motion target to sensor, presence detection < 0.9m is provided).
  • Min. range 0.5m (relative motion target to sensor).
  • Speed interval from -500km/h (closing) to +250km/h (opening).
  • Angle interval ±35° (Azimuth) x ±6° (Elevation).
  • Cycle time 30 ... 110ms, depending on mode.
  • Size: 9.5 x 8.5 x 3.1 cm (W x H x D).
  • Weight: 300g (Al body).
